Four men have to cross a bridge late at night.  The bridge is old and can only hold 2 men at a time and they must use a flashlight to see where they are walking.  The men all walk at different speeds and whenever a pair of men cross, since they only have one flashlight, must travel at the slower walkers pace.  The man who walks the fastest can cross in 1 minute, the next fastest can cross in 2 minutes, the next in 5 minutes and the slowest can cross in 10 minutes.  Someone has to return the flashlight each time so that the next men can cross safely.  What is the shortest amount of time needed to get all four men across the bridge?

A builder needs 11 pounds of sand for his pool foundation.  The sand supplier has a lot of sand, two large boxes on a balance scale, but only two weights: a 5 pound weight and a 4 pound weight.  How can you measure exactly 11 pounds of sand without removing any sand from either of the boxes during the process?
